The Fastest Way to Lose Fat?
Diet or exercise? Which is the best and fastest way to lose weight?
According to Philip Stanforth, a professor of exercise science at the University of Texas, diet is more important when it comes to losing the pounds.
However, exercise is critical to keeping the weight off.
"Studies tend to show that in terms of weight loss, diet plays a much bigger role than exercise." - Phillip Stanforth, executive director of the Fitness Institute of Texas (More here.)
According to Stanforth, exercise takes time and effort, meaning the results take longer. Exercise also burns less calories.
"You'd have to walk 35 miles to burn 3,500 calories. That's a lot of walking. But if you look at eating, a Snickers bar might have, say, 500 calories. It's going to be a lot easier to cut the Snickers bar than to do 5 miles of walking every day."
Several studies seem to back up Stanforth.
So to lose weight, adjust your diet. And to keep it off, exercise.
