There are many reasons to stop drinking soft drinks and sugary drinks. Here's one more reason:
Currently, 1 in 10 people can expect to get these things. If you have not yet had one, then stop the soft drink habit now.
A study in the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, of almost 200,000 people, found that one sugary drink per day will increase your risk for kidney stones by twenty-five percent.
Other drinks such as coffee, tea or orange juice helped reduce the risk.
"Our study found that the relation between fluid intake and kidney stones may be dependent on the type of beverage consumed," said senior author Dr. Gary Curhan. "We found that higher consumption of sugar-sweetened drinks was associated with a higher incidence of kidney stones."
So do your body a favor and give up the sodas and sugary drinks. Your kidneys will be glad you did too.
