Do Not Be Fooled By Unhealthy Health Drinks

Health drinks are hardly as healthy as they seem. On store shelves, you can find many "healthy" drinks with 150 calories and 33 grams of sugar. There are teas and fruit drinks with as much as 30 grams of sugar.

In the latest edition of Eat This, Not that series, author David Zinczenko takes a critcal look at the beverage industry, particularly the health drinks. In Drink This, Not that, Zinczenko pulls back the curtain on a number of unhealthy health drinks. His findings lead him to believe that watching what you drink is just as important as watching what you eat.

"What I learned, above all: What we drink is making us fat," Zinczenko says. We're consuming at least a quarter of our daily calories in liquid form - more than 450 calories a day - and that's a major factor in our nation's obesity epidemic."

So are most health drinks healthy? Hardly.
